The railway offers short train rides on historic narrow gauge carriages departing from Penymount Station, with a stop halfway for passengers to explore the extensive hands-on railway heritage center. The train ride back from Porthmadog takes about an hour and is hauled by a steam locomotive when enough volunteer staff are available; otherwise, diesel locomotives may be used during quieter times. Visitors can also visit the well-stocked shop offering gifts, toys, railway models, books, and enjoy freshly prepared food and drinks at Russells.
There is free parking available for visitors. The train services operate from early April through early November (2023 onwards) according to the timetable provided on the website's events page or in their leaflet.
